Hey all,

As a piece of AS Politics homework, I've got to write an essay that's asking us to evaluate whether a particular person could be classed as a 'Political Eunuch'. Even though I know a considerable amount about the person, I'm not completely sure of what the common understanding of the term is.

So, if anyone could say what they understand the term to mean so I can compare to my own, it would be much appreciated. :)

I would say its someone who has no political penetration. You could argue that Tony Blair is a political eunuch right now, since he's announced he'll be resigning soon, people don't accept him as the authority he once was.

think of his grasp of politics like his wang.... not there :p

Congratulations, you have no idea what a Eunuch is ;)

Historically, eunuchs were placed in positions of care for concubines et cetera. Because of their lack of testicles, they were seen as non-threatening and non-challenging.

The way I would apply this to politics is to try and identify whether the individual in question has been placed in a position of 'apparant' power which nonetheless leaves them unable to exercise that power.
