when we were kids my mum used to say to my sister it's not ladylike to eat a banana that way, only much later
did I cotton on what she was getting at, and the realisation that my mum was a bit more wise of the ways of the world than I thought.

This is a beautifully elegant way of expressing that watershed moment in a young man's life where you realise your mum is all about huffing chub

Apparently not. This news to me too but apparently monkeys open from the other end, by pinching the tip to split it, then peeling back.

I do like bananas (probably around a 6) but don't really buy them anymore. Maybe it's the lack of water content in them but I find they make my mouth dry/funny aftertaste.

Instead, I use frozen fruits/berries. One of them being strawberries and banana (which contains very little banana). That's ok.

Technically of course these are not Bananas, but Plantains. Bananas are much smaller and sweeter.

Pinching the bottom is the proper way. The stem doesn't always break easily
