My friend recently informed me of head to head polls on the C&C official forums with which games people view as being better out of a choice of 2. There has been some very surprising results with generals beating red alert 2 for example so I thought I'd do a poll on here to gauge what the OcUK community think is the best C&C game on the PC.

Choices:

Command and Conquer: Tiberian Dawn + Covert ops
Command and Conquer: Red alert + aftermath and counterstrike
Command and Conquer: Red alert 2 + yuri's revenge
Command and Conquer: Red alert 3 + uprising
Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun + Firestorm
Command and Conquer: Generals + zero hour
Command and Conquer: Renegade (first person instead of RTS)
Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
Command and Conquer 3: Kanes Wrath
Command and Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight

Can you also please explain your choice :)

Is 4 truly as horrible as they say?

I enjoy dawn of war 2 which has no base building, maybe I'll like it?

Its a very marmite game to be honest. It still kinda has base building but its via a weird redeployment system which is flawed in its execution. You have offense, defence and support MCVs but can only use 1 at a time and your choice directly reflects what you can and cannot build. Example being offensive MCV means you have absolutely no static base defence options. The worse thing about the game for me is the vehicle cap, which is taken directly from the DOW games but is capped at 50 which means you can only have a relatively small amount of units at once, especially when compared to the older games.

The best thing about the game, which is its one and only redeeming factor for me, is the fact its very hard after the third level and you really have to think along the "rock/paper/scissors" theme with your units or you get pounded!
