Hello folks,

I'm wondering if anyone knows what order the ignition coils are in on a 9n3 VW Polo (mid 2005 to 2009 model I believe).

They don't seem marked in any way so I'm not sure if they are just relate to cylinder 1,2,3 in a row or if they've mixed it up depending on how the cylinders fire.

Edit: For more info - It's a 3 Cylinder BMD code engine, I'm just looking for the firing order really if anyone has access to ELSAWIN or ERWIN and would be kind enough to check it for me?

Thanks!

I'm not sure what you're asking. The coils plug into the relevant connector, as far as I'm aware you can't get them mixed up as the wiring will only reach to that cylinder. The coils themselves can be fitted in any order.

The engine is miss-firing on cylinder 3. The right most coil was replaced but still getting the fault.

Just wanted to confirm the coil on the right is for the third cylinder which I think after some more research it is (The firing order seems to be 1-2-3, I was hoping for 1-3-2 and the wrong coil changed). Gonna check the spark plug and after that I think it's a compression test... research seems to show this engine has a common fault with the exhaust valve guides :(.

Ah thank you for the clarification.

Upon yet more reading I've found out that the easiest way to know which cylinder is number 1 is that it's the one closest to the front of the engine, i.e. the side with the timing belt.
