So what do we think of the new Poltergeist trailer?

SFX look great. Plenty of jump scares. My missus has said "absolutely not" to going to see it. I'll go on my own if I have to.

Can't fault the story, but the original had a chilling natural feel to the camera work and the house, not something I can describe very well, may well be a side affect of 80s poor technology but this one looks so disney!
I hope Jared Harris understands that the psychic little lady made that film what it was.

Don't look too sore. The original had a certain 'something' about it which will be hard to replicate imo.

Don't like it though when ghost films resort to jump scares. Proper ghost stories should be about a build up of fear, atmosphere and chilling moments, not jumping all the time.

A "supernatural" action movie full of effects mixed with noisy sound and most probably no atmosphere whatsoever. I'll pass.

Wont be as good as the original obviously but the Oooirish accent aside it actually looks ok.
And its got Sam Rockwell in it so that has to count for something :D

The first one scared the crap out of me when I was about 10. This looks like every other film of this type released these days, i.e. a bit pap.

From memory this scared the crap out of me, with some dodgy effects and some very basic but realistic fx. But from what Sam Rockwell had said I doubt it's going to be very scary as he's said its more of a kids movie.

The original was great and anyone remember the other horrors that came out about the same time called 'House'? They got a bit stupid but they scared me a little bit more.

Couldn't be more accurate. Lots of loud 'jump scare' sounds and effects are what describes today's horror. The originals gave me nightmares as a teen. Sam Rockwell imo is a great actor though so I hope he can pull this off.
