Pompey deducted more points.

Can't really speak about Pompey due to the fact I'm biased (Saints fan). However this punishment isn't as severe as it should be considering their past activities.

The Hypocrisy shown by the fans aswell as the Portsmouth board is astounding even in their present situation. Recently Kanu has been ridiculed and used as a scapegoat for failing to honour his contract, a contract that Pompey has failed to honour, ie: deferring his wages to pay for their malpractice. Basically Pompey expect Kanu to turn up for work without getting payed.

I don't think they can even name eleven 1st team players at the moment let alone a competitive squad.

I think most people were angry at Kanu originally because when a decent number of other players agreed to lower contracts, or to move to new clubs if they couldn't be avoided, for all intents and purposes Kanu decided to sit on his arse, barely play and keep sucking money out of the club that they couldn't afford.

Ultimately sure, Kanu had a contract and the fault was, initially with who signed him, then with who gave him I believe two new contracts despite offering next to nothing, no effort, few goals, generally not caring and taking a huge wage out of the club. While none of it is Kanu's fault, when you're a multi millionaire and you've had an entire career on high wages, when you've done almost nothing for that wage and the club is all but bankrupt and everyone else takes smaller contracts, its a bit rich to be so greedy.

Pompie hardly have a high ground, since Harry started and with several owners they've displayed nothing but greed. Spending money they can't afford because they think they can get into and stay in Europe AND somehow deserve it, ignoring all financial responsibilty, all logic, all common sense they just spent, and spent and spent. Throwing huge contracts at poor to average players. New owners wanting to jump in thinking they can suck money out of the club and screwing the club further.

Thing is plenty of players at Pompie, and at Rangers on FAR lower wages who have made lower wages than Kanu for a decade were mostly willing to help the club out, either leaving or taking a big pay cut.

ANyway, can't have any sympathy for them, Brentford have no money so spend no money, its really that simple, we could magically spend 30mil, look good for a season or two, then be bankrupt by massive debt. They didn't have some massive huge unforseeable bill come out of no where, they didn't have an icelandic owner go almost bankrupt, their entire problem came out of spending money they didn't have. Football needs a few clubs to go down for behaving so irresponsibly and there aren't many more deserving clubs.

I feel bad for the fans but they didn't care about the irresponsible behaving when they won an FA cup they bought with money they didn't have, so only so much sympathy I can have for them as well.

Yep I completely agree DM. Kanu was one of any number of examples I could have used, with Tal Ben Haim probably being the worst offender.

Also most Pompey fans knew that their owners were dodgy/suspicious during their successful seasons and had little complaint of their actions, however as soon as the SHTF they magically woke up and blamed the Premier League's fit and proper person test for their clubs failings.

I also feel that Luton, Southampton, Leeds and any other teams dealt points deductions should feel aggrieved by the sympathy shown by the various football leagues to Pompey.

Finally DM I'm glad that you understand Pompey's situation as it shows that fans of other teams (not just Saints and Pompey) are slowly realising how corrupt they've been over the years.

lol, i resent it being implied I slowly realised anything :p The second Redknapp signs for any club I see the financial trouble ahead ;)

It's NOT Redknapp's fault, its owners/directors/whoever who LET HIM manage the way he does, insanely badly. Redknapp's philosophy of football is, sign more players.... that's his complete tactic start to finish, "these guys aren't playing well, sign someone in form to get them playing", then when those new guys drop form, sign more guys.

I sincerely expect he's the kind of manager who tells his owners, "yeah, yeah, we need to sign him first then we can sell random player x y and z, and cover the costs, no problem, lovely jubbly" , then he simply both never gets around to selling the player, can't find anyone, vastly over estimates their value and has them on wages that mean they are happy to stay and take the paycheck.

Next season Redknapp will be all "yeah just one or two more, we couldn't offload those guys last year because, it was a bad market, my cat died, that ******* butterfly flaps its wings in Australia and causes chaos in the transfer market over here, it'll be fine, we'll be able to offload them no problem this season... etc, etc, etc".

Fact is you have to employ a good manager with some financial sense, or have the balls to stand up and say no to the moron and not care if he decides to walk.

Manager with barely a brain in his head and who likes to commit financial hari kari, and an owner without the balls to tell him to shove the daft wages/transfer fee's he was throwing about and you get Portsmouth.

Urm 2 seasons in admin usually means a bigger points deduction (in the football league) shouldn't they be get -25 this season like Luton??

Either way they show the madness of the football creditors rule with charities and local businesses effectively paying Liam Laurence's wages...

Really should have been put out their own misery last season but the hmrc wants some to come in and try and pay off the debts
