Hi guys, need some advice. I have only a small garden and a small pond. the problem is the pond is getting silted up and really needs to be cleaned but, we have so much wildlife in there ie newts frogs toads spawn has well loads of insect life and 3 goldfish. I don't want to rip it apart , is there a way of getting the silt out without to much disturbance ?

Autumn is the time for pond cleaning, usually methane is release when you stir up silt, so your fish won't be happy, best way is to remove everything into plastic dustbins,or some suitable containers, I use to use a Earlex wet & dry hoover with 2" hose to suck up the silt from my pond, hose out pond & use hoover again to remove water, might need to do this several times.

Also use a pair of tight over the nozzle, that way you don't loose any frogs, newts, etc, surprising what's living in the silt.
