My current machine is getting a bit long in the tooth. It's a dual processor Asus PCH-DL motherboard, 2GB Ram and two dual Core 2.2GHz Xeons, plus a 74GB Raptor and a pair of 120GB Seagate Barracudas. Graphics card is a Geforce 6600. It's running Ubuntu and is used for development work, running VMWare Server and a bit of video encoding - no gaming. It's a bit on the noisy side, due to the wind tunnels on the Xeons...

I'm thinking of going for the Abit IP35 Pro Motherboard / Intel Q6600 Quad Core @ 3.3Ghz / 2GB (2x1GB) OCZ PC-8500 RAM / Tuniq Tower CPU Cooler bundle (£354.78). I want something a bit nippier, and a lot quieter. My current graphics card is PCI, so I was going to go for the Geforce 8500 GT silent card at £51.67.

Does this sound much of an improvement over the current dual dual core thing I currently use?

Yeah go for it, It would be an improvement, plus you wont have to listen to 2 "wind tunnels" lol And it would use less power:)

I wouldn't bother with the bundle myself, if you buy pretty much the same parts but with PC6400 Ram you save about £35. The Ram isn't going to be a limiting factor here in your overclock either, at least it shouldn't be before 3.6ghz comes round. :)
