I have been pondering upgrading my PC because.....well because I just fancy some new bits and a fiddle. Never the most sensible reason I guess but watching a video of my current motherboard frankly I see little point now.

Currently I have

- Asus Rampage V
- Intel i7
- 16GB DDR 4
- GF 980

Loads of other bits, but I guess the above are the important bits.

I guess the GPU to 1080Ti makes sense, but am I going to gain much going Coffee Lake and a new mobo?

Grab a 1080ti if you want an awesome GPU, if your itch to get something else is there maybe grab an awesome 1440p/4K monitor with Gsync for the 1080ti

I opened it up today, gave it a dusting and hoovering and did some additional cable tidying up. I realised that cables are the work of the devil and have been put on this earth to annoy me! As said it makes no sense to upgrade outside of maybe my processor. I use 2 x Dell 2711 monitors so again probably not worth the move to 4K as games are probably 30% of my PC time. I am in the process of moving all my DVD's to my NAS for those that don't already sit on it in HD and I do some video/photo stuff but really the power is for gaming really. I am planning at building a race simulator, but that will have another PC (i have that already) and no screens, being VR.
