Hi

I'm after a pool table to put in my garage. I've been told 6ft ones are a waste of time as they're too easy and that I should get a 7ft one. Just wondering if this is generally accepted and also advice on which pool table to get.

I've noticed there are a lot of ex pub 7 ft slate bed tables out (the old coin operated but now free play type) which have been recovered and are going for £300-£400.

Are these OK?

Or would I be better off going for a brand new table ?

Cheers for any advice.

The 7ft Supreme 'Winner' table is the UK league and championship standard if I remember correctly, it's what I have and it's excellent, new will run you about £750'ish

definitely get 7ft if you ever plan on joining any local pool competitions after you get better.

Old ones should be okay as long as the slate is not broken and cushions are in good conditions. Slates don't really deform strongly so as long as it's not broken it should be flat most of the time (best to check this before nonetheless). Make sure the cushion is especially in good condition.

you might need to recloth the pool table if the current one is in a poor state.

Though if it is a table in poor state after all the refurbishing you could be approaching £700 which is enough for a decent pool table brand new.

How big is your garage? It's surprising how big a space you need if you want enough room around the table to be able to cue comfortably from near the cushions
