Poor 3G reception. Network or handset

I have got a Desire and have to say am very happy with the handset, apart form what appears to be very poor 3G reception. Since getting it in April I can honestly say I have only seen the 3G symbol twice and that was very briefly. Most of the time it is sat there with a H on it.

Am on Vodafone and have had 3G+ coverage on a mobile dongle while my handset is sat there with an H on it.

Has anyone else had this issue, or am i special like my mum told me?

Hoping that the Froyo update (if and when it comes) will resolve this issue
 
H (HSDPA) is 3.5G

It's better. Do a speedtest with the app from the market to confirm your connection speed, I assume you've noticed it is slow, not just going by the icon? :p

Also feel a bit of a wazzock as it is showing a G all the time, not H
 
lol the HSDPA net work upgrade, is available on all UK networks, some are implementing it slower than others. On Virgin, if your still showing only 3G, give then a call and ask them to switch off and back on your data service - this applies the update if its, not been done - the operator cant see if its been done, but its only a 20 second job for them :)
 
H is the shizz - remember the days when i got my MDA Compact 2 and edge was all the rage...

H is definatly the awesome.
