Poor Advise/ what do I do now??

I recently bought a £180 seasonic 1050w psu that arrived doa. It happens to everyone.

Unplug everything excl a couple of fans and try to jump the psu using thr guide on the link above and see if it starts. Might have been a short somewhere or pins pushed outta molexes etc

Steve

As it's new it should go back to ocuk (or whoever it was bought from), not Corsair. They will cover the return postage as long as it's faulty.

Hi All,

Thanks for your helpful advice. I think I was out of order to title this post poor advice because actually it turns out it was great advice.

I rang o.c. and after the guy checked I had actually connected it correctly and not blown it up by being stupid, he said he will collect the items and exchange them after they have been tested.

The only thing now is i am so worried about trying it when the new parts come. Bad/good things come in 3's right??

** just to inform anyone who is wondering. I fitted all the parts, everything worked for 15 minutes and then it died. I tried my old psu just to make sure it worked(only 6 months old).the pc then ran great. but i noticed the died psu had also taken out my graphics card ( the new 7790). lots of black lines on the screen.

Thanks all,

Dave

yes im really chuffed to be honest... im just so worried about fitting the parts. would you say still get the corsair 430 or something a bit better ( upgrade) just to be on the safe side. ??

Cheers,

Cheers,

Maybe ask the OCUK member of staff when he comes to your door to collect the items?

Cheers,

The corsair cx430 is more than enough, your system will never use over 200w

I've looked through ocuk's psu's and can't find anything in the 400-550w range that I'd choose instead of the cx430 for your pc.

thank you, i think what i will do is when i get the parts i will run he new psu in the machine for a couple of days....... then connect the graphics ...

cheers guys,

:-)

If i'm honest, it took just under 2 hours to get a replacement sent :D
DPD next day, but i think they missed last post and i got it 2 days later :p

You said from corsair when really it was from Overclockers!
My old AX1200i went bang about a month/two months after using it. So yeah, can happen with anything. RMA with Corsair 2 days later had a brand new one delivered.

mine was outside the return period with OCUK so had to go to corsair in Denmark..

Misleading wording sir! :p

Thought it was implied, being an AX1200i :D
Why would i send what's essentially a brand new item back to HQ when the reseller deals with it for the first year? (2 years?)

Sorry, sir :p
