Hey Guys,

I've just upgraded from an ATI 4870 1024mb to a PALIT GTX 570 Sonic Platinum! Was dead excited but the performance increase is very meh!
Gaming definitely feels smoother but i'm not blown away and there's very little improvement in 3Dmark06

ATI 4870: 14500 marks
GTX 570 SP: 15300 marks

Is my CPU bottlenecking me?

Q6600 @ 3GHz
4Gb RAM
Windows 7 64-bit

Thanks

You mean 3DMARK 2006, the old and largely CPU-reliant benchmark... compared to the modern ones like Vantage and 3DMARK 2011 which are mainly GPU-dependant?

Sorry to point out the obvious, but using a 5 year old benchmark to test a new GPU is hardly the pinnacle of intelligence or common sense. Run Vantage and 2011 and see what the difference is then.

Hmmm good point. I haven't used these benchmarks for a while. I suppose the reason for this was my 4870 wasn't directx 11 compatible so had no choice. But your post gives me some hope :) I'll try a newer benchmark and see if i'm getting more sensible results. Thanks.

Okay I've just ran 3dmark11 basic at 1280x720 I get:

3DMark Score P4706
Graphics score 5263
Physics Score 3648
Combined Score 3466
GraphicsTest1 23.05 FPS
GraphicsTest2 24.34 FPS
GraphicsTest3 32.6 FPS
GraphicsTest4 16.76 FPS
PhysicsTest 11.58 FPS
CombinedTest 16.12 FPS

Any good? Thanks
