Right just want someone to give this the once over. Building a Mini ITX File Server for the house. Parts so far are…

Socket 370 Mobo 815E with onboard Intel® 82562 NIC (two ports) / onboard graphics.

P3 1000Mhz FC-PGA 133fsb (on way)

512Mb SD-Ram

The motherboard has a two PCI riser, so I have these options:

SCSI for relative cheap speed… although would a SCSI I/O system be too much for this?

Or tiny laptop drives to save on space with the build?

Just so I have storage away from the main machine, its going to be run stand alone no monitor. Windows 2003 server be ok for this?

what speed could I start to run the cooling passively? I hjave a 733 kicking about I am sure

I am hoping to expand the remit of the server once its running, yes now that you say that I'll avoid laptop hard drives. Anyone know of a low profile RAID ATA/SATA cards? (Sata pref less cable).

cheers found a case, can't post link but its nice and alu.

with a SATA controller I can fit anysize disk I want, not going to be limited to chipset is it?

either going to be 2 x 160's or 250's.

I can still use the mobos ata headers to run the OS off, and keep the two sata drives as storage yes?

struggling with case actually now that I am engaging the brain, not easy finding one to take 3 x 3.5" drives (no optical required I'm sure I can install 2003 over network.

I might end up getting a 1U rack case from No competitor talk please! and sticking it under the floor crawl space, out of sight out of mind! :)

nice and cold under the floor, could maybe see if it would clock! :p
