Poor Marius

Culling of breeding stock is normal practice, nothing new really.

If you can't use an animal for breeding then it is meat.
Pandas should have all been culled decades ago, total waste of resources.

I considered your opinion until I read the last sentence.

Ridiculous thing to say. We should just let a beautiful species go extinct due to money worries?

No, just leave the useless things in China where they have an interest in keeping the things alive.

Believe it or not there are a zillion things more important to keep from going extinct than stupid Pandas, who are not use whatsoever.

No use whatsoever. Compared to tigers and gorillas who are multi-functional?

Would any of you go as far to say that taking your children to watch the giraffe being skinned, autopsied, then fed to lions, verges on bad parenting?

Needs more context. Admittedly some children (and indeed parents) might be upset - maybe even a bit traumatised. However a more mature child who is into science might find it very interesting. Plus there are plenty of ghoulish types out there that have become hardened to such cruelty by their diet of reality TV game shows.

Did you ever see that TV show Kill it, Cook it, Eat it?

Man, that was brutal! It actually bothered me for a while after.

Depends on age, children need to know that food does not come in little trays covered with clingfilm. Besides they used to have to dissect a mouse in Biology, probably banned by H&S now.

I appreciate this point, but surely there should be a period for a child to not be subjected to the harsh reality of life.

A few years of innocence is surely not too much to ask.

I wonder how many of those youngsters have got those dreadful scenes now ingrained into their young minds. I don't think it's fair to do that to a child.
