Poor Mesh Network Wifi Performance

I've just upgraded my broafband to full fibre (900). The router is downstairs. When I'm upstairs, and I connect via wifi to the ISP router, I get 500Mb down and 95Mb up. All good.

However, I've had a TP Link Deco S4 mesh network for a while. The main unit is connected via ethernet to the ISP router, and the rest are connected via wifi mesh. For some reason, the download speed when connecting via the Deco units is only 70Mb down. Strangely, the upload is 80Mb (which I'm totally fine with). Things I have tried:
  • Sitching from Router to Access Point mode on the Deco - no difference
  • Network scan on the Deco - no difference
  • Only allow 5Ghz network on the Deco - very marginal difference (maybe 5Mb better)

There is nothing else on the network consuming bandwidth.

Is there anything else that I'm missing? It makes no sense that the download speed is so poor, and that the upload is faster than the download.

Thanks for the help!

This is solved!

The Deco S4 has 2 ethernet ports - I swapped the ethernet cable (that connects to the ISP router) from the top port to the bottom port and it's golden.
