sooo...my 8800GTS arrived today, and i thought i'd play a few games on it.
one of those being the world in conflict open beta. disapointingly i now get worse FPS than before (on my semi-working x1900xt) at 1280x1024 with med-high settings...

where before i would get 40fps avrerage i now get around 20-30 fps...

anyone got any solutions (yes i am on the latest nvidea drivers)

320mb version

thanks

Did you do a proper driver clean before installing the Nvidia ones?

Are you using an Intel P965 based motherboard? Some have a 1x PCI-E bug.

no :/ didnt think it would be that big a problem
In most cases it's ok, but there's the odd time it can cause real problems.

Check out Guru3D for their driver cleaning software.

Run it, get rid of all the orphaned ATI stuff, then install Nvidia drivers again. :)

I had the same problem too... Its not drivers faults becase i did a clean install, i think the problem is 320mb version... 320mb is not enough for my 1400x1050 resolution... i recently bought the 8800 Ultra and the fps increase went from 11fps (at medium details :( ) to 39fps (full details :D ) and i dont think is becase the ultra has more core, etc... is because of the ram...

the RAM form my old card was less, plus the 8800 has almost 2 years worth of improvements.

and im using XP pro so the game cant have gone to DX 10 rendering or what have you.

i will give the driver cleaner a go, thanks.

nope, still bad, even with the latest XP beta drivers, its slightly better for the most part, but still, its worse than my x1900xt 256mb :(

(i've done driver sweeper thing and all other suggestions)

My last post was a general post, not towards you.

If Vista has a specific driver for this 1 game there is obv some reason for it, so who knows if it runs in XP without glitches untill someone chimes in.

fair enough mate :)

i've got it running a lot better, even at 1680x1050 by lowering settings such as grass detail and water detail. i certianly think this game has an issue with not allocating Vram properly (ie every new round that loads its not properly 'forgetting' the last map) which means every other game i play is worse than the previous one (but not vastly)

whats more annoying is that company of heros runs at 1680x1050/4xAA/4xAF high-ultra high and performs better
