Poor Signal With Freeview. Recommended Aerials?

Hi guys, as the post suggest with my freeview box hooked up when i go to detect channels i can only pick up a few :( or if i pick up most randomly from having the aerial in a silly place (resting on my head for example ;)) the signal keeps dropping etc.

What are the best aerials for digital freeview boxes (keeping budget). Thanks in advance :)
 
im using an outdoor aerial indoors for my setup :). just have a digital aerial i got from a highstreet electronic retailer for £30 i think, and just resting it on top of one of my shelves thats pointing the same way as the house ariel. I got a booster in the aerial pack and with my humax box i get every channel in great quality

The aerial is quite small too so is pretty much hidden

When my aeriel broke, I just got a coaxial cable, and a small length of copper wire (from within house wiring cable I was using as speaker cable), made a loop and twisted the ends together, plugged it into the end of the coax and it worked fine - as good as the £10 aeriel I was using before. This is fed into a £10 or so signal booster.

This was intended as a temporary solution until I went to the shops and got an aeriel, but its been a good nine months since the aeriel broke, and I can't really see myself bothering with getting one.
