poor speeds

i've got Sky's max BB done speed test ad that gave a result of 10Mb+ but I can only download at 5meg if i'm lucky. Is there anything I cna do to try and up the speed?

no probs about crashing into thread, and sorry I don't know what they mean, sorry about that. in a way my speed isn't that bad considering yours

windows media HD clips, I use that as a rough speed test as that site really pushes my speeds limit. atm from that site u gave if i'm pulling 1meg i'm lucky. 2moz i'm going to Phone Sky and see if they can give any ideas, as this has been happening quite often throughout the past couple of weeks.
 
Win XP and using Wired, going through the RealTek (I think) LAN port.
What are the RWIN values, as I havn't heard of them before.

Ok update, desktop is still runnis as slow as normal, but wired on laptop i'm getting full speeds. As far as i no the laptop settings are the same as the desktop, i am now totally confussed
 
took router cable from desktop and put it in2 laptop went on net through that, then pluged it back in2 desktop still connected 2 same port on router. Laptop full speed, desktop slow speed. Speed'sa now gone back 2 slow
