Hi guys wondering if you can help. Tesco Mobile are insisting it's my router.

Anyway, been getting really bad WiFi performance on my Xperia Z5 to the point that it'll buffer a 10 second video on Facebook.

Downloaded Ookla Speed test and barely get 1Mbps Down and around 9Mbps Up. Also downloaded WiFi analyser which shows that signal is around 70Db when in same room as router. Using channel 1 as same app indicated it was the best channel for me. Confirmed myself after trying all other channels and not getting a signal at all on my phone.

Have run same tests on wife's S6 and everything working fine, she's getting around 20Mbps down and around 9Mbps Up. Also shows Ch1 as best channel with at least 85Db signal strength all through the house. Only other WiFi device is a laptop.

Have done restart on phone, tried resetting network settings, restarting router, restored phone to factory settings. Running Android 6.0.1 with no other updates available. Stamina is switched off. Using sky hub 2.0.

Has anyone got any other ideas or us the phone FUBAR?

As I say Tesco are insisting its the router even though I've explain repeatedly that's its only affecting my phone and nothing else and happens in other people's WiFi as well. Works perfectly on 3g and 4g with similar speeds in 4g as my wife gets on WiFi.

Go to adavanced wifi settings in the phone, and select either 2.4GHz and 5GHz only to see if any of them are more stable?

Does the same issue happen with other wifi networks?

From the sounds of things you may have a dodgy wifi antenna in the phone. Might be better to contact Sony if Tesco is not being helpful.
