Poor wireless performance.. poor weather?

I have recently gone from a wired connection to a wireless one, and found it to be quite dodgy at times, disconnecting randomly etc. Admittedly the computer is quite far away from the router and is behind a lot of walls.

We've had a few days of nice weather with no clouds in the sky and even sunshine, during this time the wireless connection was fast and consistent, smooth even in games which it usually has trouble with. But now.. heavy rain and wind, horrible grey sky and I'm getting disconnects with up and down download speeds.

A friend of mine has 2 computers which are right next to each other on an ad-hoc wireless connection (don't ask why) and he says the transfer speed goes waaaay down when its raining.

Anyone else noticed anything like this?

lightning during a storm ionizes the air and can seriously reduce, if not kill, mobile phone signals.

which is very cool.

perhaps your at such a distance that humidity affects performance... am afraid i really have no idea... i just wanted to point out that thing about the lightning :D
