Currently the owner of a Gigabyte X800 graphics card which I've had for a couple of years. Over the last week after having my PC switched on for 10/15mins, my screen becomes covered with columns of white vertical lines then my goes into sleep mode, I've borrowed a PCI-E card from friend to confirm it's the card at fault (it is). Is there anyway of repairing the card (I'm fairly confident there isn't) or do I just need to chuck it in the bin?

Thanks

If it takes a while for the corruption to start then it could be heat related.

Check the fan is running and it's free from dust etc.

I thought it could be heat related.

It's passively cooled, so no fans too worry about. I've taken sides off the case to try and improves but to no avail.

I try taking the cooler off, cleaning the cooler and re pasting, I had artifacts appearing in games as my X800XTPE got to 85 degrees, after cleaning the cooler and re seating all was fine.

As with the above post, countless heat cool cycles could have affected the contact of the heat transfer compound. Well worth removing and refitting the cooler
