Popping audio from my PC - Different audio devices makes no difference

Here is an interesting one, I am currently having some issues with the audio output from my PC. I was originally taking optical out into an external DAC and was getting popping and stuttering sounds.

I thought it was my DAC so I swapped this out for another one I had spare in another room and it does exactly the same thing. Then I swapped the optical cable for a USB cable which means my DAC is now basically the sound card and I am having exactly the same issue.

Anyone got any ideas what this could be? I imagine it is something to do with my power supply or motherboard?

Added any other devices recently or changed any hardware settings?

Have you tried disabling all other sound sources in Windows control panel?

I tried all sorts of sound messing, bios changes and Windows changes didn't really help.

I just rebuilt my PC, installed a new beefy power supply. Flattened my bios and re-installed Windows and all the drivers.

Seems to be all good now.

I fixed that one by bumping up the default format to a higher quality a few weeks ago
