Popular games you just don't get

Been looking at grabbing a new game and I keep seeing popular games that I just know I wouldn't like despite their popularity.

That got me thinking and I figured let's see what games everyone seems to love that the OCUK community just don't get and why.

So for me I'll start us off with Borderlands, Borderlands 2 technically as I never played the first outside of trying it at a trade show.

So it's supposed to be a somewhat fast paced shooter but you have to stop every few seconds to pick up your loot then appraise your collection of items to determine the optimal gear. Obviously I'm exaggerating but it feels like every time I kill someone comes with 5 minutes of inventory management which kind of pulls me out of the action. What's worse if you're playing co-op which seems to very much be the point it just makes it worse as you've now got 4 people doing it.

I've only played the first one of the new Doom games but I definitely couldn't get into it. Admittedly back in the day I was more a Wolfenstein guy than a Doom guy.

Elden Ring I just know I'll hate even without trying it.

Cyberpunk I admittedly only played for about 2 hours but the gameplay didn't feel 'next gen' I didn't see anything in it that made me think the gameplay was as good as Deus Ex or the first person Fallout games.

BR games. So I like Call of Duty and Battlefield but hated their BR modes. For me the weapons all feel both too weak and overpowered at the same time. Same was true when I tried Fortnite.

Grand Theft Auto V. It's a great achievement from a technical perspective but I hate being 3 different characters none of which I really like and for me they've made the game more like a job, this was starting to be the case with IV. NO I DON'T WANT TO GO BOWLING WITH YOU! NO I DON'T WANT TO GO TO THR PUB! NO I DON'T WANT TO TAKE YOUR BROTHER'S SISTER'S COUSIN'S FORMER ROOMMATE BALLROOM DANCING! STOP MESSAGING ME! I want to get in crazy car chases like I could in Vice City not managing relationships with a bunch of a***holes!

I'm going to throw the whole crafting/survival genre in here as well.

I'm sorry they just feel like a job.

Collect a million blades of grass to make a stick.
Make 5,634,763 sticks to make a plank.
Join 3 billion planks to make a wooden house.

You idiot you have a wooden house! It's time to start from scratch in the stone age!

Collect 26 billion pebbles to create a rock.
Make 18,426 rocks to make a stone square.
...
Oh and did I mention it's cold, you are starving and there are ******* wolves!?! ... Also those aren't pebbles, they look identical but that is actually gravel.
