Hi,

Im planning on getting a new mobo, cpu and memory. This will be my first Intel build although i have a couple of AMD builds done in the past.

As I recall, when I built my last system there were a lot of mobos that wouldnt boot with 3 or 4 sticks of ram in, is this still the case?

I know this is a bit of a general question, but im still researching components so only expect a generalised answer.

Cheers, Boozer

I have used the Abit IP35 Pro with all slots populated and had to up the MCH to 1.41v in order for it operate without a load of error messages.
My Gigabyte EX38-DS5 run fine just upped the MCH .2V after installing the memory.

Had nothing but trouble with my 780i with all four slots populated. Dropped it down to two and it's fine.

If building from scratch I would definately go for 2 sticks. 2x2GB of DDR2 is the way to go for the current generation imo.

Mines perfect also, its usually just a case of upping MCH(nVidia)/Northbridge voltage.

Some motherboard manufacturers may not list the ram you have/purchase as compatible but chances are it will be.
