I just moved into a new house, we have a 25m2 garage, I was thinking of tile the garage floor with porcelain tiles.

maybe something like this

Is this a bad idea for any reason? overall cost will be quite low for what will be quite a big improvement to the garage

Appreciate the cost will be quite low but a good epoxy paint will give a very decent finish for a fraction of the cost, and an even better one if you latex the floor first (which you likely would if you were to tile it)
Is there a reason you are proposing porcelain tiles on the floor of a garage, aesthetics aside?

Consider the hassle to replace a tile if one breaks as well.

Is there a larger tile option? 270+ tiles look a little "busy" to me. Especially if you use a contrasting grout.

Been searching PH recently and reading threads over there? ;)

I've done the same thing and it seems to be:

Cheap - Epoxy Paint
Not cheap - Interlocking tiles.
Even less cheap but nice - Dotti tiles

I'm planning on using the same tiles (albeit the darker colour). Made my decision after reading the 400 odd pages on garage floor thread on the PH forum. Some really nice examples on there of the tiles used.

I have these tiles in a checker pattern on my garage floor (10 or so sqm) and they’re really good. Extremely strong and very scratch resistant. Only thing to note is that the colours come in at very slightly different sizes so be aware if you’re mixing and matching. You will need to consider the underfloor if you’re parking cars on it but your tiler should know this.

I looked into the other options mentioned but didn’t want to epoxy it myself and would still cost around £300-400 for materials alone. Getting someone in to do the epoxy was twice the price of the tiling and some. Cost me about £750 all in.

Yep saw these tiles in one of the posts but it was only a short thread.
