Porsche Macan...

Pretty sure it’s the size of a Tiguan, so not really a whole lot bigger than a golf for boot space.

Depends why you’re looking at one. If you want the cheapest way into a Porsche with ability to carry 4 people, it’s still a really good Porsche and a fantastic mini SUV.

It drives remarkably well considering the centre of gravity is higher, and the 6 cylinder is properly nippy.

Personally I would have one if I were looking for that type of car, but I’d want a 2017 or so with PCM 4 to get CarPlay.

There’s loads of acronyms and Porsche terminology to decipher when looking at them - it gave me a headache when I was looking for a Boxster. Give me a shout if you need a hand with finding a decent spec :)

It’ll be replacing the 330D just need something a bit higher as we’re getting on was contemplating a new Defender but so many horror stories! potholes everywhere are a nightmare so I just want an SUV with thicker sidewalls to help me stop spending £1000s on tyres every year

My friend has a Macan GTS, which I've driven a few times. Very small inside for my personal liking, considering from the outside they look like bigger cars. Picks up ok, got a car that visually looks quite large but it didn't do much for me.

They are based off the Tiguan so any VW owned brand of motor of that size will be similar.

There are some things Porsche are a little pedantic with if you’d be putting it under warranty

it'll be an approved used or even new if i can sell my house :)

Even approved used will mean you’ll have to use Porsche for any servicing, repairs, N rated tyres only, Porsche only parts inc wiper blades and battery.

They’re very pedantic with it :/

You might get lucky in that your local dealer are decent, but best to assume the worse.

I’m due to have my inspection soon, so I’ll let you know what they pick up on.

I've put a deposit down on a nearly new Macan GTS. Should have it by March 31st, or earlier if they get a replacement demonstrator onto the forecourt sooner. They're stopping the sales of these in the EU due to some security thing. And the electric Macan is due in the second half of this year.

I'm taking this as my last opportunity to have a fun, petrol sports car (I know it's an SUV). The compromise is I don't fit in the Cayman (6'3", couldn't stop hitting the steering wheel with my thigh) and my wife won't drive a 911 as they're too big. So we've settled on a Macan. I get a car that's fun to drive (but no Cayman\911) and she gets a premium, nice place to be in a reasonably small footprint.

All the reviews online from a driving dynamics perspective suggest it is best in class by some margin. Rear space & boot space is compromised. And by all accounts the Bose speaker system is not good for a car of this price.

Residuals feel like a total lottery. But I'll likely keep this car until driving petrol cars are untenable, or electric cars have had a major breakthrough in battery tech regarding either range\recharge.

I bought a new Macan S (the 2.9l V6) last year (MY23) - done 15k miles on it. I absolutely love it.

Its a bit small for rear passengers with my driving position, but still acceptable (recently did a London -> York return trip with 5 people and whilst a little cramped, there were no complaints). Boot space I find acceptable and with the back seats down I can get my road bike, turbo, work tools and a couple of big soft holdalls (think north face) in no problem.

It drives amazingly - you feel very in touch with the road, it feels solid and planted (hard to describe, but it just feels connected to the road). Interior finish (definitely get at least the mid level leather) is lovely. My only gripe is lack of Android Auto - but thats not a huge issue. Interior trim can attract fingerprints, but I've put some matt PPF over the screen and glossy buttons which has helped!

Don't expect high MPG - since I got it I've averaged 25mpg, can get up to 30 on the motorway if driving carefully over a long distance but normally a bit lower. If you drive it like you should, it drinks fuel.

The best bit about it is the sound - its not overly in your face, but it is there, and it sounds lovely

I test drove a SVR F-Pace that sounded amazing but the wife has always wanted a porsche so thought we'd get one we just have to sell our house first :S

25mpg i can deal with as we only do like 4k a year now

I've got a 70 plate Macan Turbo, it's my second in a row - absolutely love it but yeah the boot isn't huge - I just use a roof box for family hols (I have the rails fitted 24/7 anyway as I regularly carry bikes). Spec of the car is key, as usual with Porsche.

and sadly its so easy with the options list to add £20k-£30k to the car and put it firmly in middle sped cayenne price. Only 7 new Macan available at dealers and unlike the Taycan's which are £20k-£30k off, most of the Macan's are more money than list price. Even ones with 5k miles on are more money than list price!

So the demand for Macan's are still there. There is 10%+ off new Cayennes so quite easy to find a (better specced) cayenne for the same money as a highly specced Macan.

I've been looking at these recently too, I've had lots of BMW's but do fancy a change. I need something that's relatively practical so the Macan is the obvious choice (less worried about boot space, but need 4 seats).

Likely a 2019+ Macan S from Porsche Approved. The S seems to be the Audi S5 engine, and Macan Turbo is the RS5, both tweaked, presumably. I'm not hugely worried about total power, so maybe the 2.0 would be worth a look, but it doesn't quite seem right...

The fact you get a minimum 2 year warranty is very appealing. Extension costs seem reasonable beyond that, although I know Porsche have to look after the car and are very fussy - but that's fine.

Spec wise it looks a total minefield, which seems to be typical of Porsche. My local OPC have a new GTS they said I can borrow for the day, so going to try that and go from there...

Spec is always a nightmare with Porsches. Since there are about 300 options on any car, its a nightmare tracking down the right spec. Okay there are big ticket items that a lot of people may have ticked when buying new but when i have been looking, i see the exact spec I want but then realise the first buyer ticker the box for purple leather or something equalling stupid that I just couldnt live with.

Yup. The car we've gone for has a perfect spec, apart from the fact they've not added the roof rails............

Well, that and the fact the GTS has to come with satin black wheels if you option the GTS interior package, which is infuriating as they're great looking wheels ruined by being black.
