Porsche Motorsport Light Base 900 Build

Thanks @jabski! Yeah the "Porsche Motorsport" Logo would look nice here. I just need to sort out getting the paint off the plastic nice and gently!

If I had the room I would love to do my own hydrodip setup, especially for things like this!

So, while we wait for the paint, Intel has been kind enough to support me with a Core 7 265K for this, or perhaps another build I have in mind.

I am still undecided on motherboard, and if I can still grab a Formula, I will stick with Z790. If not, the Pro Ice for Gigabyte might work, but I may even hold off and make the motherboard decision as one of the last parts I install, after I have some of the Alphacool loop completed.

Granted, there isn't a great deal between the platforms; new tech is always lovely, but the priority is making sure this build looks and feels as it needs to be to stand out.

Speaking of standing out, I've ordered a Panasonic G7 and some new studio lights, which are essentially the same as what I used for KitGuru. I am no camera expert to say the least, but photos from a G7 over a Samsung S23 are night and day!

A quick update before the weekend, then, it's way too hot here in the UK to be building, so this will be it until it cools off a little bit!

So the panels are back from paint, and they look amazing. I've just spent some time getting them into position. I am now waiting for some hardware to turn up to secure the motherboard tray back into position before I can move on.

The bottom of the case also has the first trim in the carbon wrap; the front and top will be a little bit more difficult, so I will leave them for today. I also need to get the Cricut out for the Porsche Motorsport logo to be cut into the top one.

I will drop another update once the case is fully rebuilt before moving on to the internals. I've also received my new camera, so I'm looking forward to taking better photos than I can with my phone!

Thanks bud, if people ever need to paint anything in the UK, try CJ Power Coatings in Cleethorpes. They have done loads for me, Intel Enyo, the Rossi build etc and have all been spot on. Not affiliated or anything, they are just good at what they do and would give them a thumbs up every time.

Ive dropped Gigabyte an email, hopeful to hear something as I would like to work with them. Now the paints done, it does change the perspective a bit and i dont think a black mobo would look too bad to be honest.

Im probably going to get most of the watercooling done, certainly rads in, before I decide 100% on the motherboard, if Gigabyte cant support then il decide what to buy!

On GPU, looks like my Strix 4080 is going to get dropped in from the Strix build, Ive requested a new block from Alphacool so that can go away for paint and then ive still got a std one for future use.

Yeah that was the Gulf MNPC Tech build I believe, it was a great build.

Im a car guy, was actually out in a GTR and a 600bhp Supra last week so car themed PC builds I would like to do more of. The only other one I have done so far was Moto GP in the Antec Torque, so hopefully I can do a few more going forward. A Jetta or Supra F&F build, or a BTCC themed S40 would be fun I reckon!

What you need to do is see if Porsche will sponsor you with a case...and by "case" I mean complete with suspension, wheels, engine etc You handle the water-cooling because obviously their thing (historically) is air-cooled :D

Another update then, albeit a small one!

I had a delivery of hardware to secure the motherboard tray. I always replace the rivets drilled out with M3 countersunk screws and Nylock nuts so that I know it won't vibrate loose.

One of the jobs I have tackled is the original silver trim. I wrapped the bottom piece in carbon, but the front and top proved more challenging than I initially thought, particularly when incorporating the Porsche Logo. I have stripped it back and repainted all the trims in black. It fits in well, and with the Porsche logo now backlit to the top, I can start adding a few of the sponsor logos.

I'm almost at the point where I will be waiting for my friends at Alphacool before I can do any more. I will explain my idea on the setup when the parts land, and then I can see what real estate I have for additional team sponsor logos and the layout.

For now, the case is all back together before we move on to the next steps!

Was trying to work out why you'd drill out the rivets just to replace them with screws. Took me a minute to realise you'd already had to drill them out in order to get different parts power coated different colours. I'm clearly slow this morning.
I hate drilling out rivets, they always seem to spin and then you're rapidly having a bad time.

Thanks Andy, hopefully Alphacool wont be too long so i can get cracking on. Il get some more of the external logos done but il save it for the next update.
