First my onboard sound port blew, now my shiney new Extreme Music has blown, what's going on??

To me that would say what ever you are pluggin into the sound card is the cause of your problems.

Agreed, what have you got plugged into it?

hm, I've not heard any problems with them, are they directly plugged in or through an amp?

Directly plugged in, nothing else was plugged in.

I occasionally use my headphones though, but they just go in the socket I take the speaker jack out of.

I'm no expert, but that does sound like whatever ** pluggin in is causing your problems. Anyhting else in it at all?
