Port Forwarding. Anyway to force a game (e.g. BlackOps3) to use a different port?

  • Have 4 PCs all on the same network with BlackOps3 installed
  • All PCs have static IP addresses
  • As per the link above, opened ports 3074 for PC1, 3075 for PC2, 3076 for PC3 and 3077 for PC4 (virtual servers section of Billion BiPac 8800NL)

The ONLY PC that shows as open in BlackOps3 is whichever has port 3074 assigned to it (moved the port around to prove it).

In the BO3, in the network section all of them show that they try to go out of port 3074!

Is there anyway to get around this? Is there a config file somewhere that dictates the port? Is there an application that trick another application into using a different port? Like tricking the game so it tries to go out through 3074 but actually goes out 3075?

Thanks!

Don't think you can forward a port openly it has to be sent to a specific ip I think.

There must be a configure file somewhere but I certainly can't find any mention of it.

Yeah, I've had a good look as well. Thought I hit gold by coming across an old COD thread and specifiying the port with this type of string "+set net_port 3075" at the end of the executable. But no such luck, the game keeps trying 3074. Why it can't at least try some others port numbers I don't know

No, but you can add multiple firewall rules no? At least you can an all the routers I've ever had (although I must admit I've never needed to).

This just your normal bog standard home modem/router not a Cisco ASA firewall :p

You can do IP ranges for the ports?

Only able to put 1 address in the "Server IP Address" field.

Nah you can put multiple rules in but any router will just follow the list as such every time that port is accessed it will go to the first rule on the list. There's no way the router can know which requires the port open at a specific time.

I've "acquired" blops 3 to look through the files and I can't find editable config sorry :(.

Thanks for taking a look though, much appreciated! :) Thought there must have been a realistically achievable way to achieve open NAT on multiple PCs in the same network and I was just missing something obvious. Now I know it's not that easy I can just move on with my life haha

Is UPnP enabled?

That should sort out the problems. If not, set the same ports for all 4 IP addresses.

Yes UPnP is enabled, tried disabling it as well. I now know the issue isn't router related but game related; it only tries the one port 3074. If it tried a range of ports there would be next to no problems.

You cant port forward the same port to multiple addresses

Yep, even though I knew it wouldn't work I had previously tried it anyway. Results in no PC showing as open.
