Port forwarding - Help me before I commit router genocide!

Ok so I've basically never managed to forward any ports over multiple routers now and I really need your help!

Internet - Virgin Media

Virgin stupid hub is set to modem mode

Router - Linksy E2000 connected via ethernet

Ip of the pc has been made static and I'm port forwarding to that ip address yet every single port on my pc seems to be closed when using online programs to check. Suggestions? What is odd is that I could still host a terraria server over hamachi.

When I'm port forwarding I'm using the same external port as internal port, is this incorrect? I've also used UDP, TCP and "Both" and that hasn't changed anything.

UPnP is also turned on. SPI Firewall Protection is enabled but didn't seem to work either when turned off and I've set a DMZ and that didn't help, don't even know what it does but I did it anyway haha.

Windows firewall is disabled also and all I have is AVG free, which I also tried disabling.

Have you opened the necessary ports on the PC's local firewall? Temporarily switching it off is an easy test.

Hamachi probably relies on outgoing connections to avoid having to manually open and forward ports.

You probably missed my ninja edit but yes I have the windows firewall disabled and avg free doesn't have one I don't believe but I also disabled that anyway.

If you setup the dmz correctly then all of the ports should have been open and the problems are likely to be with the PC.

Have you looked at the guides over at http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Cisco/Linksys-E2000/ ?

For the ports to be open on the PC, something has to be listening on them.

This is by design. Hamachi punches through firewalls.
