port forwarding not working?

Hi

I have a cctv dvr which has the following changable settings in it's network settings:-

i.p:192.168.1.211
service port:37777
http port:80

I can access the dvr from any machine in my house by typing in it's IP but I can't get remote access to work from outside my house.

I have port forwarded 37777 to 192.168.1.211 but this didn't work so I turned on dmz to 192.168.1.211 but still couldn't remotely access the dvr?

Any ideas?

That is a "private address" you need to access your router IP when outside of your home network if I understand you correctly.

Are internal addresses - Go to the above website to find your external IP address then try that

As said by Dangerous, find out your external IP and then try that from work/neighbour/etc.

If you have a dynamic IP then your external IP can change. Services like DynDNS can help with this, and you might find your router supports it directly.
