Portable Air conditioner vent hose

WHOA!

If it came with a 1m hose then the unit will (almost certainly) have been sized for a 1m hose, quadrupling the hose length will put a significant strain on the unit reducing efficiency and possibly even damaging it!

Thanks, I had read something along those lines. I probably need no more than 2m in total and rather than extending the existing hose, I was planning on replacing it with the ebay hose.

If you contact the manufacturer they will be able to tell you for sure what the maximum safe hose length they recommend is.

Thanks. I sent them an email yesterday and waiting for them to get back to me.

I did try the air conditioner yesterday and managed to just about get it to a window and it took about 90 minutes to get from 26C to 19C. Room felt like a fridge but the unit isn't in an ideal position.

I have extended my one at home, and at work we have done the same, but these failed after few years of constant running in extreme conditions.

What is the load like on the room?

It's an 8,000BTU unit and the room is 20m3. In the summer, it will get to 30C+ with the windows closed. There's a PC, monitor, TV, amplifiers etc which combined kick out a lot of heat. It's not going to be on 24/7 though, maybe 12 hours a day maximum when it's really stuffy and opening the windows don't cut it. As an example, yesterday with one little window open, it was about 25-26C and the unit cooled the room to 19C in about 90 minutes with that little window closed. The venting is not efficient at the moment though as I put it through a window which was left ajar with only a blind to cover it somewhat.
