Portable airconditioning Velux window seal?

Hi -a couple of years ago I tried all sorts of these for what I thought were "normal" windows in my house. I could not find anything that wasn't utter rubbish. I considered drilling exhaust ports into the walls to evacuate the hot air, but utlimately went for installed split systems which are in a different league by every measure.

The only other suggestion I have is to you have an operational chimney? I am sure someone will be along to tell me I risked death but for a period of time I just stuck the exhuast up there.

Sorry I don't have a decent answer for you but my experience of these solutions was very poor!

That's really useful to hear, thank you CapitalOne - so many of the window kits do indeed look like complete junk. This AC unit came with a sash window kit, but...not very useful for Velux! Split system would indeed be ideal, but that's not an option where we are due to building restrictions.

The only exhaust chimney we have is for the bathroom extractor fan, so that's a no go for this given the length of pipe that would be needed to achieve that.

I'll keep looking out for options. A lot of reviews suggest they don't even both sealing the window around the exhaust pipe, but that's just terrible!

Hey no problem - do you think you could fit something like this in the external wall? That was the route I was thinking if the regs allow it of course.

For googling purposes, don't forget tumble dryer solutions that may work also.

Best of luck!

The approvals process is too costly and time consuming to go down the wall drilling route unfortunately. That vent does look ideal for others with less strict limits though.

Very good point on the tumble dryer solutions, I'll search for those too.
