just seen this on my mates drive, i have managed to install it, but wondered how you get other programs working like 'adaware' or winamp?

You have to make sure they don't need the registry of the PC at all. I find the majority of my stuff from SourceForge, although at the moment I don't have that much installed at all.

so how doe sit work? you just install the apps to the drive?

you don't install any of them, they'll be downloadable as zip or compressed files, you extract to the drive, then create a link to them using the portable apps program

you can put winamp on there, i never install winamp, i just extract it from my library of programs that i keep in 7z

Use Foobar and VLC instead of Winamp.

Also some programs such as Spybot S&D can be installed into the portable apps location and do work.
