Hi,

Need a portable and have about £1500 to spend.

Criteria:

1: Must have dedicated graphics that will do 4k video editing (davinci resolve)
2: Must have 16gb Ram
3: Must have 500gb SSD at least
4: Must have 7hrs+ battery life
5: Would like it light as possible
6: Min 13" Screen

Any recommendations really appreciated.

Matt

You need a Ryzen CPU to do the video editing.

Look at the Asus GL702ZC-GC104T
17,3", AMD Ryzen 7 1700, Full HD, 16 GB RAM, HDD 1000 GB, SSD 256 GB, AMD Radeon RX580, Microsoft Windows 10 Home, Weight 3 kg.

Hi @mediamatt - couple of options for you from Gigabyte and AORUS, both within budget because of OCUK discounting :) Last units of these products, hence the price drops to clear them. Also some bundle items with the suggested AORUS products.

AERO14 - @ £1,399 (was £1,649)

You should also check out the AERO15 range if budget will stretch.....

Its also worth checking out the first 3 units on this link as they are heavily discounted and just a few left:

AORUS X3 R7 , AORUS X3 V7 and AORUS X5 V6 - From £1,499

The battery performance is longer within the AERO range, but the AORUS units will have fair performance, just not the all day length you are looking for.

Hope that helps in some way.

Thanks for the reply .These look right up my street. I know battery life is hit and miss but do you have any estimates of how much battery life i would get out of these for general browsing, video editing (not heavy stuff/rendering, just laying out etc) as any heavy stuff I would likely be connected to a charging point and external monitor anyway .

The Asus GL702ZC-GC104T is up to 8 hours of battery charge.

Does look good but very heavy and tbh don't need a 17" screen

Hmm, strange. 3 kg is light, plus if you feel it's heavy, it's good for you to train with lifting ;)
Weight is needed in order to get a decent battery.
You can't demand very light and a decent battery at the same time.
And 17" is the best because you will be able to work on it without the need of a second additional screen.

But you decide - just to tell you that you would get used to it very, very quickly.

Hi @mediamatt - The AERO unit will be close to the battery life you desire, with the AORUS X3 nearer to 4-6hours, and the X5 a bit lower - there are media reviews out there that can give you more detail from an independent perspective.

The new AERO15 range has a genuine 8-10 battery life, and has been achieving in excess of 10 hours in many test.

Hope that helps.
