Any thoughts on this? We're using a Microsoft Kinect for a University Project which is mounted on a robot and being used as a vision system for object recognition. The only thing currently limiting the mobility of the robot is the requirement to have the Kinect plugged into a socket.

Any hardware guys thought about this? We convinced the University to buy us a Kinect and they are happy for us to take it apart and tinker with it. We've seen some projects online with quadcopters where the Kinect wasn't visibly plugged in but we've had no luck contacting them so far. It would be great to power it over (BeagleBoard) USB.

It must be doable as its normally only powered by the console when you have a slimline 360 which means it shouldnt need large amounts of power. Have you thought about seeing if you can buy the socket that the slimline console uses and wire it into your project?
