Portal 2 Delayed by 2 months

Valve today announced that Portal 2 -- the sequel to the ground-breaking title that won over 30 game of the year awards, despite missing its original ship date -- will now be available the week of April 18th, 2011. This two month slip not only marks the shortest delay in Valve's proud tradition of delays, it represents the approaching convergence of Valve Time and Real Time. Though this convergence spells doom for humanity, it will not affect the new Portal 2 release date.

I hope this has a new engine and is the start of new versions of things like CS:S

Valve have been too quiet for too long for this to be a run of the mill release
 
A solid date, the possibility of EP3 and a corner stone for valve in the shape of maybe new engine........ i just creamed my self, going to play the whole Hl series just to keep my racing brain occupied!!!!
 
It's not very surprising. I don't mind as I have a load of Steam games that need playing, so they'll keep me occupied in the meantime :p
 
Not sure, the trailers looked like either a heavily modded/updated Source engine or possibly a new one. Considering the constant updates they have brought to Source, I wouldn't be too surprised if it was an updated version (could be wrong though). Have they even acknowledged EP3 is being worked on or will be out within the next couple of years? It feels like they are so concentrated on their other projects (L4D etc) - that EP3 has been nearly forgotten.

The Ep3 is a lie!

I agree with you that it does look like a modified Source Engine.

I doubt we'll see a new engine until maybe Half Life 3.

Also, Valve in surprise delay shocker!
 
I love you Valve and I will purchase all your games. As long as you QA them as you have previously. And the new engine is as smooth and great as the previous 2.

I don't know why people keep clamouring for new engines. Surely if you do your engine right the first time, you only need to keep updating it?

Starting from scratch every time is a bad thing, people.
