Well at a glance at the recent posts i noticed there wasnt a thread dedicated to clearly one of the best games out Portal :D

This is my first real thread in the pcgames section of Ocuk so if it doesnt go well i will go sit in a corner and have to eat cake

Seriously though discuss. I love this game i really hope a 2nd will be on its way.

The cake is a lie ;)

It really blew me away, I didn't really know what to expect of it when I first booted it up; I mean I'd read some previews and watched some videos, but a lot of it, for me, was unknown.
The start was really well constructed, learning about the place you're in, getting the first portal gun was awesome, then a fair way on, the second version of the gun. The early puzzles weren't complex, little experiments.
Going through and seeing more and more of the factory, little things GLaDOS said, seeing how small (through windows on a projector screen) Black Mesa was, compared to this place, seeing how it all tied in, was amazing. :)

Best game I've played in years.

Oddly enough, my employer has a habbit of promising bonuses that don't happen. They EVEN, to entice people to work at 3am offered refreshments that never appeared.

I now have an entire team saying "the cake is a lie"

Worth buying it and completing it just for that song.

BTW, the custom levels...WTF I'm STUMPED.

I've completed it 3 times now - still love it and can't wait to play it again :D

The advanced levels are a bit much for me - I've also installed the Flash game mappack, but I'm stuck about 5 levels in :(

Anybody got any more custom maps to recommend?

I've tried and loved the Flash game mappack and was wondering if there are any more worth trying?

Had a go at a single map off the steam forums called Cube, had me stumped completely

Absolutely wonderful game, the best FPS I've played in god knows how long. Actually, maybe FPS is a misnomer? Seems wrong seeing as you never get a projectile weapon.

A great example of how a very simple premise (only one non-player character, one gun, and some puzzles) and some excellent writing can make for a fantastic experience. GLaDOS is one of the best videogame villains in recent memory.

lol brilliant :p

yea the end credits rock i think i must have completed it at least 3-4 times now its really that good always trying to find new faster ways of doing the puzzles.

Best and most memorable game for me in many years. Truly a rare gem, something unique and original.

Ending credits still make me smile but a little sad because there I've played it now and I won't have that incredible "omfgwowwtfjusthappened" feeling again.

loving it. great game. clever idea.

im working my way through it already with the feeling that it will have to end at some point ...hoping it goes on as long as possible

edit:

im going to have to stop playing it otherwise ill finish it in one go

Truely awesome game, can't get my head around how it's possible to achieve gold on all levels, it's insane!

Hope they still plan to implement the portal gun in hl2:ep3, that could make for a VERY interesting game...

'there's no point trying to even attempt this level, it's impossible' - or something along those lines... pretty much anything that GLaDOS said was just plain hilarious :D

Aye true. Some cracking lines in it. I think thats what made it you just kinda felt attached to everything and great humour in it too.

"Remember when the platform was sliding into the firepit, and I was all "Goodbye!" and you were like "NOOOOO WAY" and then I was all "We pretended we were going to murder you"? That was great."
