Hey guys.
After many years of console and Mac gaming, I have finally made the plunge into PC Gaming. Attracted by the idea of a smaller 'Steam Box' Idea, I decided to buy the Bitfenix Prodigy in White.
Having a family, my budget was around 800 quid, so I opted for AMD (for value) and the HIS IceQ 7870. I get stunning results and the card doesn't really go beyond 60 degrees.
I thought my case was rather plain, so have made some simple changes to make it a bit more unique. Heavily influenced by the Portal games, I decided It would be the theme of my case.
I work at a Printing adn Sign Making Company, so I took full advantage of the Printers and CNC Machines.
Here goes with some pics.....
The Glados image was redrawn in Vector form and printed to the side of the case in Matt Black, along with the Portal logo and quote.
I decided the Bitfenix logo was better higher up, freeing up space for a Aperture Logo as the main focul point.
I thought the grill on the top of the prodigy was crying out for a Test Chamer Sign, so I binned the black grill / vent. I redrew a test chamber sign which was more or less the same scale. Reverse Printed direct to the rear of the Acrylic. CNC cut and Polished the edges. Holes were also spotted to provide some airflow. Finally Backed up with Translucent White Vinyl.
I really struggled with the LED's, because there wan't much depth and they were spotting badly. I improved this by making a mirror tray beneath, then the LED's faced the mirror and the light was diffused back towards the rear of the Sign.
I'm still thinking of what I can do for the other side, I'm just a bit worried because the GX Card is pressed right against the side panel. Any thoughts welcome I'm thinking Machining something turret based....
