Portal won't run

Just reinstalled Portal,but when i try to run it,it just hangs on the loading screen for ages. Have to reboot to get back to desktop Was working ok when i had it installed before,i've tried verifying the files & it says 100% ok

Any idea's please folks

have you chnaged OS since you last had it installed? you may have to change its compatablity settings in windows mate.

No change to my OS, going to reinstall & see if that works. Very strange though

have you got a firewall that block applications liek zone alarm? the hang could be your computer waiting for you to allow or block the application.

Tried that as well mate, all on steam is getting through,even tried it with the firewall off & still no joy

Never had any problems with steam before

This was exactly my problem.

I didn't have Zonealarm set to allow the game, and it had the same problem as you. But I guess if you've already tried that

Steam support is your best bet.
