It's taken Portishead over ten years to craft their follow-up to 1997's Portishead, but probably not more than a couple minutes to decide on a name for the thing. Entitled Third, the album will be released April 14 on Island Records. (Since that's a Monday, we assume there will be a different U.S. release date.)

According to the band's website, Third is an 11-track affair, with 49-minute-and-13-second run time. And, even after all these years, it's still too damn far away.

Thanks to Jason Klekovic for the heads-up.

In other Portishead news, the band recently announced a tour and a stop at Coachella.

Portishead:

03-26 Porto, Portugal - Coliseum
03-27 Lisbon, Portugal - Coliseum
03-30 Milan, Italy - Alcatraz
03-31 Florence, Italy - Sashall
04-09 Manchester, England - Apollo
04-10 London, England - Hammersmith Apollo
04-11 Edinburgh, Scotland - Corn Exchange
04-13 Wolverhampton, England - Civic
04-26 Indio, CA - Coachella
05-05 Paris, France - Zenith
05-29-31 Barcelona, Spain - Parc del Fòrum (Primavera Sound)

can anyone recommend some good portishead to listen to?

best albums for example, i own Dummy and love it!

Well they only have 2 main albums (Portishead & Dummy) and a live one. Get them :)

There's an EP called Glory Box too, got some remixes and stuff.

Hard to recommend a best, they're all good.

Beth Gibbons also done an album with Rustic Man called "Out of Season " which although isn't portishead you would probably like if you like the head.
