Portishead - "Machine Gun"

I think it's a nice song :). Bit dated but hey. Tis interesting, and a bit industrial/rough. More like it I say :).

I don't know why, but I'm reminded of The Terminator when I just listened to it. Especially the ending.

Yeah that's what I thought! It's just like the flash-forwards in Terminator.

The song sounds a tiny bit dated but I like it, apart from the Terminator bit near the end. I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of Third.

I've not heard anything of this. Nonetheless I shall try and procure a copy of Third and see for myself. 'Glory Box' is the one I always skip on that album unless I've not listened to said album for months.

Well, just popped abroad to purchase a copy of the album, and I'm not too impressed at-all :( (let down rly). 3 tracks that I half like, the others are not relevant to my interests.

I think what Portishead have done is fantastic - a great follow up - ie a different tack. I as expecting an awful flop.

Personally I thought it was dire, must have taken them about 30 seconds to come up with that one, and I have listened to it several times.

I heard this song on the Jools Holland show along with a couple of other tracks...

Still not sure what I think to be honest, think it's one of those songs where you need to hear the whole album to really get a feel for it...

portishead started an entire music genre back in the 90s (ie triphop) and imho can do nothing wrong..

with so much music it's very hard to be original, but this album continues to push in new directions that others have not yet explored.

their finest moment however was the live show they did at roseland NYC with a full orchestra.. stunning, you can see a lot of songs from this on youtube.

I think this song is distinctly mediocre, but I haven't listened to the album yet. This song is just too...predictable?! I don't know, but I'm disappointed.

I have only just started listening to Portishead, I got three of their albums today ;), and I really like the track 'Machine Gun'.

I can see where people are coming from saying the new album is no 'Dummy' though.

Precisely the reason why everyone is extolling the new album. It's pap.

You what? It sounds terribly generic to me.

It's music to go with modern art. I might get some dustbins for drums and just randomly power up a chainsaw for 10 minutes and then call it a song. Some people will say it would be the most profound and intelligent music for decades, most people will say it was tosh.
