I'm currently using Samsung 2443BW 24" and I am looking for a new monitor to go with it for portrait use.

So im guessing I will need an IPS panel as the viewing angles tend to be a bit poop on TN's so I will get colour shifting if used in portrait.

Budget is around the £250 mark,

Any help would be great

thanks,

Mark.

What are your intended uses? You are quite correct about the viewing angle issue.

I would recommend the ViewSonic VP2365wb. It's the cheapst IPS monitor currently available and falls comfortably within your budget. The panel is the same as the U2311H's one but it doesn't have some of the features or pixel acceleration. This shouldn't be a problem for your intended uses and you'll save yourself a fair bit of money.

Just spend the past 10 mins or so reading a review or two on the ViewSonic VP2365wb

It seems to mention in both about some colour shifting and backlight bleed which is putting me off it currently :(

Would I bet better punting the extra cash and getting the Dell or are the panels exactly the same?

The panels are identical and the backlight bleed, although not a feature of the panel itself, is quite common on E-IPS panels. They are designed to maximise light throughput and allow cheaper and less powerful backlights to be used. I wouldn't worry about this too much really. It will provide a much better portrait experience than anything else in your budget.

Looks like im sold,

I've managed to find it for under £200 delivered

Cheers for the recommendations/help

Don't know if this will change you recommendation at all,

But If I where to purchase a monitor mount would there be another recommendation since the need for a height adjustable stand would be out the window?

And possibly a silly question but are the viewing angles/colour shifting any different on LED Panels?
