Just put together the parts for a new system and like always nothing works as it should. I'm buying a Mac next time, ****** PC's. :D

It would be great if I could get the whole thing working so I can actually use it, at the moment it does make an excellent door stop though.

Exact problem is related to RAID on the Gigabyte X38-DS5. As soon as I enable it I can no longer get into the BIOS during boot. After you press DEL to enter BIOS the whole thing just runs the RAID check and then hangs right at that moment. I've tried by the ICH9R and the Gigabyte controller, both exhibit the same problem.

There's no issue at all if RAID isn't enabled BTW. Also nothing has been clocked nor is their any OS installed.

If it helps this is the configuration:

Intel E6850 CPU
2x Samsung F1 750Gb HDD's
4x 1Gb OcUK PC2-8500
2x ATI HD3870

If you can help then I'd be well chuffed and it might just stop me putting a hammer through the lot. :)

Thanks for that jbloggs. However the problem I was having was lock ups during boot and particularly with RAID enabled and setup.

I'm a retard though and hadn't set the DDR2 voltage to 2.1v that the OcUK 1066Mhz modules require and instead was still running at the mobo default of 1.8v. Soon as I sorted that everything worked as advertised.

Please no comments ;)

I'm happy now and can postpone the hammer treatment. I'll miss the door stop functionality of the new PC though :(
