poser or not?

Weird question !
What makes you think i would even notice you or anyone else whilst i was chilling in the park. I go there to chill not to gorp at strangers unless they are fit of course.
Why is everybody so self obsessed these days ?

thats the way everyone should be. I see all sorts of people doing whatever activities and i dont sit and stare at them (granted I did applaud a hot tight rope walking girl the other week in the park)

If you have fun why do you care if people think you're posing or not? On the plus side, if Tru sees you he may chuck a quid in your hat.
A quid?! He'll get a washer on a string like everyone else.

I do this and I've never been to Thailand. I wouldn't think you were posing if I saw you doing it in a park, after all parks are there for this sort of thing.

It has got a 'showing off' aspect to it but really this is intrinsic.

Twirl over the head could just be a the butterfly thing when you go from in front to behind your head, or maybe a corkscrew.

I think you should all just join the majorettes or however you spell it :O

TO me it reeks of people that thing they are cultured or NewWorld/Age whacky types
but im just a biggot.

...anyway, today ive been and bought a nice large tub of prepack paraffin. I'll have a spin tonight i think in the back garden as to not distract cars passing by or people thinking im a show off. Fire spinning sounds and smells gooooood :)

I would say that you're pretty ignorant to the pastime based on that response.

Edit: Why is a person spinning poi in a park showing off? Don't think that's been answered yet.

your right about the first part.

Maybe other people see it as a really difficult skill and they go to the park to show other people. Its not that difficult, just takes some co-ordination and patience. I go to the park to meet other people that spin there and try and learn new things and because its nice in parks, better than in a scorching hot house.

It certainly does. Just wait 'til you try some fire ropes, sound the same but multiplied by 100. The smell on the other hand is usually burning hair from your arms

So is it the new craze like Yo-Yos ?

Or by middle class students that did a gap year in the far east?

Sorry I dont understand why middle class white people are spinning ropes on fire in British parks?

If you saw someone spinning things like socks around in a park or wherever would you think they were posing or just chilling out?

Something like this -

I ask this because I do it and im not a poser at all (far from it) I just find it relaxing and a skill that takes time to learn but when you do its very enjoyable. I get annoyed at people saying/thinking "look at her/him spinning around showing off" As you could say that about most things like football kickups etc

I think the real question is "who gives a...... ?!" :D
