I dont know the propper words for them I'm afraid, but the spinny fast thingy at the sides to the front I can do, then the thingy where you make then spin Criss Cross in front of you and then into a twirl over your head, but most tried ended up in me getting hit in the nuts.

weaves at the sides, criss cross in front of you will be butterlfly or split time butterfly i think and the twirl over your head may be a windmill (but you dont go from butterfly to windmill so im not too sure)

thats quite quick learning!

You can't really do it indoors, and some people don't have gardens to do it in, therefore they have to frequent public places in order to partake in a bit of poi spinning.

that and the fact its now a millions degrees in my room with the added moving around spinning its unbearable

so do people doing kickups and fancy footwork. Or like said, anything else in the park, like diabolo or frisbee

Diablo, yes, it's like a circus act. Frisbee is a group pastime, as is keepy-uppy (usually) if someone was doing keepy-uppies in the park on their own then I'd say they were an attention hoor. This poi stuff has a novelty value so it's going to attract attention too.

It hit my head more than my nuts, hurts just as much.

a fast unlit monkeyfist in the temple neally resulted in me being knocked out! one in the balls put me to the floor and a 135gram juggling ball in the balls made me fall over in the park yesterday. i didnt look like a poser then i tell you!

socks are much better for learning than heavier things. At worst you may not like it or dont have time for it, but once you start its hard to put down

I think it's more the fact you're doing it on your own. Frisbee and kickabouts are not only social, they are intrinsically manly.

Yeah, POI=Points of interest.

What the hell is this POI?????

google for the win!

first page

'Poi' are a traditional Maori dance prop from New Zealand and has given rise to a contemporary style of spinning popular all over the world'

volcs -you can spin poi and do catches with 2 or more people, just like diabolo

I just watched some videos of this whirling alchemy and I'd assume someone was busking if they were doing it in public.

I say go the whole hog and wear the traditional outfit and all.

Hmm, this has got 'look at me, how good am i' written all over it. Apart from people who do it in full dress as then its entertainment, where as people doing it in the park on their tod...

...are just practicing because its fun and relaxing. I spin in my bedroom when it wasnt as hot sometimes for 2 or 3 hours. I now so i have to spin outside or in the park because its too hot in doors.
Its fun teaching my mate aswell, who can now do a 3 beat weave after a few weeks.

Weird question !
What makes you think i would even notice you or anyone else whilst i was chilling in the park. I go there to chill not to gorp at strangers unless they are fit of course.
Why is everybody so self obsessed these days ?

If you have fun why do you care if people think you're posing or not? On the plus side, if Tru sees you he may chuck a quid in your hat.
