Positioning of Pump

Quick question, can a pump be turned on its side? Or does it have to sit in a certain way? In the 'normal' way it is just too tall to fit in the bottom of the 800D.

The answer is mostly yes, but it would depend on the pump, which you don't mention.

The d5 for example can be which ever way you like bar inlet facing down.
 
Well I read through the ek spec doc, which says nothing about orientation.

I would guess the best advice would be do not to fight mavity, so make sure the inlet is not facing down. I should imagine it is fine on either side.
 
Stood up straight, it would hit the fan. It may have been possible to move it into the bay area, didn't try that...

In the end I've ended up with the following:

In terms of a loop is this looking correct? Any recommendations?

the simple solution is to move the fan to the other side bud

then use a 90deg barb on the pump inlet and you should be straight out both the tubing gromets if you put the pump directly under them
