Positive and negatives of buying a property with a Friend?

Hi guys,


Wondering if anyone has any experience with buying a property with a friend? Is it an easy thing to do and what are the benefits and negatives? It would be a buy to let in London for about £550,000. I can see the benefits of all upfront costs which are a lot being halved, but then so is all capital appreciation and rental income in the future. Financially I trust the guy.

Anyone got any experience with this?

Thanks for the advise guys, I think it's probably best going alone. Now is a very attractive time to buy in the UK with the recent drop in the GBP as my salary is in USD, it would be my second BTL so the stamp duty is indeed very very high!

I think I'll wait until next year when I have saved up a bit more. My friend bought an apartment with his girlfriend and they have now broken up so I can definitely see how it turn complicated very quickly!
