Hi all,

My mouse pointer has been acting up a lot lately! For some reason it will jump an inch or two without me touching/moving the mouse itself! Its really annoying as I keep clicking on links that I don't want to click or in games things jump around!

I am using a Razer Lachesis mouse which is supposed to be a decent mouse. I have uninstalled and reinstalled drivers etc!

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Blow on the optical sensor, you could have a bit of dirt or small hair intermittantly confusing the sensor :)

The Razer mouse I had (I can't remember the name) had issues. It'd not be recognised at boot half the time, and I'd have to reboot until it worked in Windows. It'd light up etc, but not register at all. Of course there was no way to tell until the PC was fully booted and the OS was up, and it'd go on losing streaks of not working 3 or 4 times in a row.

I found out it was a known issue, with no fix, so I dumped it for a Logitech and will never go back to Razer.

Hair has always been the problem for me. One hair underneath the optical sensor makes the mouse pointer go mental.

Buy an MX518, Solid & reliable with on the fly sensitivity & enough buttons for anybody.
I'll trust no other mouse with my life :D

/Mental FPS player.

I had a similar problem, but all I did was upgrade the firmware now no problems, and basicly make sure the surface your using it clean. I use an icemat and clean it now and again so it causes no interferance with the sensor

Pretty sure that was the Copperhead's. Shame that that they have a few products that aren't as good as some people hoped. I've had my Diamondback nearly 2 years and still loving it, still as responsive and fast as it was the day I bought it :D Been perfect on my Razer Exactmat (White version).

Windows will quite happily accept the input from two mice, so it's funny at work to plug your mouse into the PC opposite you and every now and again 'possess' their pointer :D

Shiny surface by any chance? Dell mousepads are notorious for confusing optical mice with their 3D block pattern.

Yeah I'd go with shiney surface confusing it, my MX was fine for on my desk surface until it got worn and shiney in places (the desk that is). Then it started getting unpredicatable and had to use a mat.
